In 2001, Magali Delporte became the first winner of the international 'Canon Women's Photojournalist award of theAFJ' which rewards the self-initiated work of a woman photographer. This enabled her to complete her work on blind people in nine different countries. "UNSEEN… Sport Without Sight" was exhibited at the Visa Pour l’Image Photography Festival in September 2002 as well as in London.
Magali Delporte trained as a freelance writer and since 1998 she has been working as a photojournalist.

In London she started freelancing for The Independent and then for The Times newspaper as one of its main features photographer. She regularly does travel supplements for the Guardian.

Magali is a photojournalist, using thorough research to get under the skin of her subjects and being able to produce photo-stories as well as strong single images. Her recent photo essays can be seen on the network of photographers: www.picturetank.com

Magali Delporte was born in France. She has lived for twelve years in Belgium and then in the UK. She is now based in Paris. She generates her own projects, which have been published in magazines in Europe. Her documentary photographs are also used by major charity organisations.
